In 1998, our founder and creator, Scott Linden was working with a criminal defense law firm assisting them with the creation and promotion of the firm's website.  Often he would correspond and share Internet ideas with the creators of other web sites that were also still in their infant stages; these included google.com, LawGuru.com, FindWhat.com, AskJeeves.com, and Monster.com.

After hearing how each of them planned to make different search engine technology that would, basically, result in the same answers, Scott pondered on an easier way.  The Internet was meant to make life easier, not more confusing.  A term queried with any search engine results in hundreds upon thousands of pages of completely unrelated information.  Search engines just offer too much information, they do not find what you want. 

The freedom of knowledge is there, but there is just too much of it!  Your customers are tired of the fishing expedition that search engines cause.

Our Founder had spent many years in the 1980's building Bulletin Board Systems (BBS Boards) both personally and for various businesses and he remembered how easily they were all hacked.  He feared that this new medium of information, the Internet, would allow the same hackers a far greater reach and the search engines offered no protection from them.
